Redfin has posted third party calculations of flood risk for my home that label it a 10/10 flood risk even though the current flood risk is minimal. They use two separate models, one for flooding caused solely by rainfall - they call it pluvial flooding -on the topography surrounding the home, the other for flooding from any watercourse that crosses the. They have a tool that they use to most likely know and determine if the property is in a flood zone. Second option is to contact your Realtor or Real estate agent. They have a tool that you can use and all you need to do is to plug in the property address. Wouldn't it be nice to have flood risk data at your fingertips when you're doing the " if only we had the money property search" on a Sunday afternoon…… I believe that there is a major flaw in the method used for determining the flood factor for inland locations on the Risk Factor site.
