11/4/2023 0 Comments Krita animation hot keysWhen focus is on layers, arrow works too. Note: when I write “current layer”, it often applies to a selection of layers. Once a selection is made, you can make one with Shift pressed: it adds to the selection with Alt pressed: it removes from selection. When making a rectangular or elliptical selection, press Alt to move the selection instead of grow / shrink, and Shift contraints to 1:1 aspect ratio.Īlso works for rectangular / elliptical drawing tools, BTW. I mostly use the Outline Selection Tool (freehand), I assigned it the S shortcut. Play with options for tolerance, growth, feathering, etc. Fill the selection and / or the current color with the FG color. I rather use the Ctrl key to go into color picking mode.į = Fill Tool. G = Gradient tool, between FG and BG colors. You can quickly group & ungroup layers to do that (or just keep these useful groups!)Ĭ = Crop Tool: cut the bounds of the image to what is selected. Moreover, if you select a group of layers, it will move the whole group at once. T = Move Tool: move the current layer ou the selection, depending on optionsĬtrl+T = Transform a layer or selection: beside rotating, inverting or deforming capabilities, allows to move the selection. H = Show color history (below the palette colors used in the current picture) U = Show common colors (on the left of the palette allows quick selection alternative: right-click…) Shift+Backspace = Fill selection with FG color.Ĭtrl+Backspace = Fill selection with BG color (opacity).Ĭtrl+Shift+Backspace = Fill selection with FG color (opacity). Defaultĭ = Default foreground (FG =black) and background (BG = white) colors.Ĭtrl+I = Invert colors on current layer(s).īackspace = Fill selection with BG color. V = Hold this key, press mouse and hold it, it will trace a straight line between the press point and the release point. You can hit Ctrl+G to group the selected layers, for example… Shift+R = Idem, but add the layer to the selection of layers. Hold this key, click on a pixel, you select the layer holding this pixel. Shift+Space+left mouse button for fine canvas rotations.Ĭtrl+click = Color pick the pixel under the cursor.Ĭtrl+Alt+click = idem, but only if on current layer. Also with middle button (mouse wheel) click and drag. Shift+left mouse drag in Brush mode = resize brush (large when dragging to right, small when dragging to left). Right-click = Show a palette of brushes, color history and other tools. Note: FG = foreground (color), BG = background (color) Mouse shortcuts You might get a warning that the Visual Studio 2012 Runtime DLL is missing: you can download the missing dll here. There are tons of shortcuts, I list here those I use often while drawing. You can download the zip files and just unpack them, for instance on your desktop and run. Two packages are available: 64-bit, 32-bit: Sudo apt-get install krita-animation-testing Just choose ‘krita-animation-testing’ package: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:dimula73/krita You can get them through Krita Lime repositories. We welcome your feedback! Video tutorial from Timothee Giet:Ī short video introduction into Krita animation features is available here. So, finally, welcome Krita 2.9 Animation Edition Beta! (Note the version number! The final release will be based on Krita 3.0, this version is created from the 2.9 stable release, but it is still beta. Thanks to these changes now it is possible to efficiently work with huge images and play a sequence of complex multi-layered frames in real time (the frames are recalculated in the background and are uploaded to you GPU directly from the cache). So now all animated frames and view cache planes are calculated in the moments of time when the user is idle (thinks, or chooses a new awesome brush). We almost rewritten it to allow most of the rendering processes run in the background. Or just use the hotkey Shift+ L.īut under these visually tiny changes hides a heap of work done to the Krita kernel code. For both features, you need a system that supports OpenGL 3.0 or higher.įor people who previously installed Krita, to get Instant Preview to show up on the view menu, delete the krita.rc(not kritarc) file in your resource folder(which can be accessed quickly via Settings->Manage Resources->Open Resource Folder) and restart Krita. There are three new dockers: Animation, Timeline and Onion Skins, which let you control everything about your animation frames and one new menu item View->Instant Preview Mode (previously known as Level of Detail) allowing painting on huge canvases. What’s new in this version? From the user point of view Krita didn’t change much. Today we are happy to announce the long awaited beta-version of Krita with Animation and Instant Preview support! Based on Krita 2.9, you can now try out the implementation of the big 2015 kickstarter features! Krita 2.9 Animation Edition Beta released!
